The Holidays are just around the corner November 14, 2008

With the Holiday season right around the corner and snow capped mountains outside my livngroom window, it’s no doubt that a little bit of stress has crept into my life. The next couple of shows are nearly here and I’m busy sewing up all kinds of creations to offer shoppers during their visits. What I like about this time of year is being even more creative with the items that I sell. It’s not just the usual bags and accesories, but the gift things like sachets, stockings, wine gift bags, felted mittens and booties and whatever else spurs my creativity. The added stock gives my booths a really fun and festive air. I really do love this time of year and I love when someone finds that perfect “something” for the usually hard to buy for. This is also the time of year that most of us artisans and crafts people do their holiday shopping with each other, a definate PERK!!!

See you at the shows and thanks for buying locally and independant…it really matters.

supporting local crafts people and artisans November 10, 2008

Wow, what a weekend. I am forever surprised and grateful, of course plus humbled by the support that the valley that I live in shows me and my fellow artisans.

My friend Beth, of Griffin Clayworks, Jen, of Garden Dreams and I shared Beth’s studio space for a NH Open Doors studio tour this past weekend. The tour was a collaboration between NH League of Craftsmen, NH Made and WREN, so there was plenty of coverage for the state, but for us up here and away from the more populated areas, we as usual were supported by our local friends, family and acquaintences. To say that the event, from our perspective, was a success…is an understatement. A heartfelt Thank-You goes out to any and all that support(ed) not only the 3 of us but any of the working crafts people and artisans everywhere. Your support of local, independant and handmade is a vote for positive change. Thanks, Janet

Blogging for Dummies October 13, 2008

So here we are, Monday of Columbus day weekend, trying to figure out this blogging thing. In an effort to get the word out about Sally bags. After a brief respite, we’re back and better than ever. New designs, new fabrics make for plenty of choices. With Christmas right around the corner, you’ll need to start thinking about how you can be fiscally responsible and genereous to those who love fashion all at the same time. Of course buying locally and hand crafted fits both those bills. Order today by calling or dropping us an email. Or better yet, why not have a Sally bags hame party. Visit our virtual stores at nhmade.com or mtwashingtonvalley.org

HI all, don’t forget to check out the new bags added for sale from the site. It’s a lengthy process and I am certainly A.D.D. certified so I can only do a bit at a time.

Also, the shows calendar is being updated as my Jury status comes in from the shows I’ve applied to so far. I will be juried for the “craft center” at the Fryeburg Fair, happening Oct. 4th through 11th in Fryeburg Maine, also the Designing Women group has 8 different shows throughout eastern and central Maine, and Art in the Park in North Andover Mass., in May. As soon as I know the outcome of each process I will update the show page accordingly.

The picture in this blog was taken at the Effingham show that was held in November. I collaborated with my friend and fellow designer, Leslie Kane, of Leslie David Co. She designs and makes a beautiful line of contemporary women’s fashions and accesories and I hope to do more with her in the future.
